Saturday nights for fighting #1The previous picture included a fawn with the doe on the right. The deer on the left has a mouth full of food as the fight for several minutes and in several pictures. #2-3 Two buck sparing. A third smaller buck arrives but doesn’t stay around long while these two continue to fight it out.

Even tho the deer is the main focus of any photo, sometimes it’s the background that helps make a great photo. Whether it’s the fall colors, a water background, or in this case it’s the cloud formations.

These deer frequent our backyard in the city of Port Washington, WI. We suspect the doe in this picture is a 1-1/2 year old with the same mom as the young fawn. The three often travel in a group. The older doe and last years fawn exhibit good mothering behavior with the little one. Sometimes the playful side spontaneously erupts as seen in this photo.
