Put new batteries in cameras and set out like a trap line to see what was left after the rifle season. Rut is still on and we have more than one that should be of shooter material next year.

I was mentioning my grandson a week earlier. We were in our deer blind when this owl showed up about 20 yards out. It kept watching us, all of a sudden it flew almost into our open window. It landed within 4 feet of us. It scared me so I decided to chase it away fearing injury to my grandson. When I did that I also scared a nice buck that I never saw which was less than 20 yards.

This is a buck I call splits. He had double splits on his back tines last year as a 2.5 year old. This year as a 3.5 year old he’s just a main 8. Hopefully next year he goes back to the splits. He’s made it through our shotgun seasons so I think he’s gonna make it .
