moved back to my home town and bought a house. Put out a camera less than a mile from my new house and got a nice surprise shortly after.

I go off the beaten path on public land into the deep backcountry to put up trail cameras. This particular photo is a 3.5 hour drive from my home and 2 miles back into a basin. It’s a monster of a trip as you can imagine to check cameras like that. These photos are some prize possessions to me because they represent the work, the sweat, the fuel money and the time away from family to hang them. Elk are magnificent and it’s a job to be able to capture them when I am not actually in the field. Letting the trail camera work for me is truly awesome! Enjoy.

This photo was taken opening day of rifle season in Northern WI. I was after this buck all archery season but never got an opportunity at him. The photo was taken seconds before I shot him. I had a doe lingering out in front of me and he came in hot on her trail. This was the first time in my life I targeted a certain buck for the season. It felt very rewarding and it’s going to be my first shoulder mount as well.

These two button bucks don’t like each other very much. They both have been hanging around my area for the last month.
