Aoudad sheep Family. We are located in the texas panhandle. Native to rugged areas of Northern Africa, the Aoudad, also known as Barbary sheep (Ammotragus lervia), is a tough and intelligent species of Caprid (goat-antelope). Aoudad are the only species in the genus Ammotragus. However, some include this genus in the goat genus Capra, and others in the sheep genus Ovis. From a hunting standpoint, they are usually considered a sheep.During World War II, American soldiers stationed in Chad and the Barbary Coast of Northern Africa discovered Aoudad and realized their potential as a game animal. After the war (late 40s & early 50s), these soldiers had some animals shipped to ranches in Texas.

I have 4 years of pictures of this beauty. The rut started in earnest a week ago and this picture proves it. Hope those genes are passed on frequently. He has declined from a 6X7 last year to a 5X5 this year. But the mess of stickers around his bases are unique!

This mature deer was not seen the previous two years and surprised us with his dramatic antlers. He was first photographed in September with this being the best picture to date. The deer do not seem to mind the raccoons but tend to leave when the pigs show up. The the time and date is correct except for the year. The Cuddyback camera was purchased in 2006 and has functioned well over the years taking as many as 200 pictures a night in high activity evenings.

Since I have already used my buck tag for this season, I decided to help a friend tag a her biggest and best buck with a bow! She did everything perfectly and now has a great buck for the wall to prove it! Watching and helping Kristie was as much fun as harvesting one myself. I have several pics of this buck, but the last is by far the one I love the most. Submitted a velvet pic and a pic days prior to Kristie putting her tag on him. Cuddeback's take hunting to a whole nother level and help relive this hunt every day. 2016 is a year I'll never forget in the bow stand. Thank you!

I have been getting pics of this big boy for 4 years and have yet to get a daylight pic of him. Three days after this pic I got a pic of him about 100 yards from this spot and at my tree stand. Also at 3 in the morning

The Attack IR captured the picture as my friend Bill Kalata harvested a very nice whitetail. The IR captured the deer in air as the arrow impacted the whitetail. You can see the arrow in the picture.

I've had my cuddebacks (4 of them) set up in this particular area for three consecutive years and it's been interesting watching different bulls grow and change along with their migration patterns and rutting patterns. Weather is neat to watch to, like this photo where a mature bull is heating to winter range after an early heavy snow fall.
