We wanted to try somewhere new deep into the backcountry this time to scout for archery elk and rifle bull elk we also drew. I had always wondered if we would ever see a cougar or cougar sign in our unit. Well, after 8 years, mission accomplished. This scene caught the perfect picture of a deadly serious predator in a moment of playful bliss with momma and the yearlong.

Checking cameras is always an adventure. We are not blessed with big bucks. This 9 point is pretty good for our area. Something must have spooked him to get him flying past the camera. It looks like he just lifted off. All 4 feet are in the air with his shadow below him. Cuddeback trigger speeds and picture quality are incredible as this pic shows.
