It’s that time of year when the bucks start showing up with polished antlers. He had to show his friend his new look.

This buck's name for the last 3 years has been Crazy Rack. The first 4 years of showing up on the trail camera his name was Chocolate Rack. This buck is unique because he has been the companion of another buck named High Rack who has always been on the top of the shoot list. These two bucks are always together. I've actually missed high rack twice and on both occasions Chocolate Rack was with Him. Four years ago I actually decided to put Chocolate Rack on the shooter list if he gave me a shot, and one day he showed up and presented me a 25 yard shot and I took it. He was a 19 inch wide, thick, typical 8 point. I heard a loud crack when my arrow hit him but blood was everywhere I was sure I got Him. I even celebrated with my dad when we returned to retrieve him hours later, but to our amazement we found him bedded up. He sprung up and run off as if nothing were wrong, and the fact that we could only find blood in the place where he bedded down made us sure he would live. Turns out the arrow hit the shoulder bone, the crack I heard, and he showed up the next year on the camera but his rack was different. We know it's the same deer because he is always with high rack, but his horns were not typical any more. I'm not sure but I've heard people say that a wound can make a bucks antlers do that, but I'm not sure if that's true. What ever the reason his antlers went non- typical, this is his third year bearing the name Crazy Horn and his rack has for the first time put him at the top of my shoot list. That's saying something because his buddy High Rack, the third picture, has always sported head gear that's kept him on the top of the list. This year will be the first year that I've ever decided to let high rack walk if he ventures by my stand, and the reason is not because his rack has went down a little this year. Although that's true his horns have gone down from last year, but he's still a trophy in my opinion. But this year Crazy Horn sits on top of my list and the reason is easier to explain with a picture than with words.

Buck in velvet walking my property. So far the only deer I would consider drawing back on.

There is a secluded meadow on the North end of my place where apparently black bears like to gather and frolic a bit . . . so I have cameras there now.

First year using this system. I am currently running 1 home camera and 24 link camera's. I own and operate a private outfitting business. I sell hunts to two individuals a year they book the entire whitetail and duck season. Right now we are capturing the deer on the property i have roughly 6,000 acres that i am covering. When November gets here i will transition the cameras to duck hunting spots and use them to scout ducks. I plan to submit more pictures in the future.
