I was actually hunting just up the ditch from this camera, and could've literally jumped on this little buck's back. The evening started off with a little rain, that was actually in the forecast... but it said nothing about the ½ of snow we received in about an hours time! Luckily for me, I was ready for it with my rain gear, but wow, what a pose for a picture with fresh snow in Northeast Missouri!

I have been hoping for a picture like this for a few years now. It's not by choice as the land floods unexpectedly all too often as of late. I have lost many cameras due to this and have adjusted accordingly to get shots like this. This brute came by and the camera did the job capturing a great action shot.

Been after this “Big 10†since before bow season started. Finally had him patterned, but didn’t make it back into town this day early enough to get into the stand. Obviously he would show his face!

So I seen this buck over 3 years ago early season standing on the end of a corn and bean field. I seen that he had a drop tine and 1 side of his main beam was ripped off towards the end so he must of lost 4 inches of his beam in velvet. Right there I knew I needed to pursue that buck. So I put out cameras trying to find him around my buddies farm. This farm in mostly all crop fields but there is a bunch of smaller Coolies with cattails and willows and some grass that the deer love to use including this buck. There is also about a 100 acre spot that is so thick with cattails and willows and grass that you can’t really hunt hit. You just have to sit there and wait for the deer to come out. I never got a chance to take this buck that year but that following spring I managed to find both his sheds not to far apart from each other. So right there I was thrilled to know that he had made it through the winter. I did a lot of preparation for that upcoming season. I had gotten plenty of pictures of this dear that season and finally around December I had an encounter with this beautiful buck. I trudged 3/4 of a mile through over a foot of snow and snuck in to where I knew he was bedding. With only 30mins left to go of day light. He stepped out at about 50 yards. He worked his way to about 35 yards with a hard quartering to position. I contemplated about taking the shot. This was the biggest deer that I have encountered ever and I knew that I didn’t want to take a risky shot on such an animal like that. That I knew was at least 200 pounds and at least 155inch deer. So I opted not to take the shot with my bow even though it was not the decision I wanted. I didn’t have anymore encounters with him that year. I never did find his sheds that spring, so I was just hoping that he made it through the winter. So I made the decision to go out and invest in the cudde link cell cameras. I got the cell cam and also another to connect to the cell cam and so I put them out and got a lot of great pictures of deer, elk, and moose. I kept getting pictures of a beautiful 6x7 that was palm mated on 1 side but all of a sudden only 2 weeks before bow season started this year. Boom there he was, drop tine and all. I was then counting the days before I could start pursuing him once again. About 4 days after bow season start I got a couple pictures of this buck 2 nights in a row right after day light on the cudde back cell cam. I knew that I needed to get out there to get this deer. So I went out the very next evening and about 40 minutes before sunset. There he comes, the moment I’d embers waiting for, for 3 years. He was walking through some tall grass and once he got to the mowed paths that I had made specifically for him. He started to follow it. He came into 15 yards and heard me pull back and he stopped right in his tracks. I knew that it had to be then or never. So I put the sights where they needed to be and I pulled the trigger. The arrow went right where I wanted it to. I poked my head out of my blind to watch him to see where he was going. To my surprise he only went 50 yards and tipped over. You can’t even imagine the emotions that were going through me when I had finally completed that 3 years of history with that spectacular deer. He scored 167 2/8 my biggest deer to date with a bow. I couldn’t have done it though without using the cudde link cell cameras. So I thank everyone at cudde back for there hard work and dedication to produce such an amazing piece of technology.

My dad and I hung this tree stand with this deer in mind on Sunday. And my dad slipped in there Tuesday after a light rain. And this is what happened. As the buck came up the trail, he came to full draw and bleated to stop the buck. He stopped and dad made a perfect shot. After the recovery, we pulled the card to see if we got the shot on camera. To our surprise it was better than expected. Not only did we get the deer, we got my dad at full draw just before the shot! When we set this camera we did not know the stand would be in view. And we got a once in a lifetime photo of my dad at full draw on his 2020 Kansas buck! Pretty awesome photo!! Thank you Cuddeback for a “once in a lifetime†photo that will hang next to the mounted buck.
