This is a lease where I always turkey hunted and decided to give the deer a chance this year. This big ten point showed up on Christmas morning. There are several scrapes on this ridge and I was surprised at who they belong to. The Six point I though was very unusual also.

I've hunted in Mexico on a 14,000 acre lease for the past 15 years. This is the best hunt I've ever had. There is a half-full pond in an area no one on the lease has hunted because we've never seen a deer that is comparable to other places on the lease. I noticed many horn rubs around the pond. I decided to put my Cuddiback Excite camera in that location. At 12:30 PM I placed my camera facing the water's edge and at 3:45 the attached photo was snapped. I had not attached the camera very securely so the naturally curious cows on the pasture rubbed on the camera until they had stripped it off the tree. I didn't think there would be a picture on the camera once I saw it on the ground. But there he was - a beautiful buck with some of the rubs in the background of the photo. I shot that buck the evening of the 26th, the first evening I hunted the site where the camera had snapped the photo just a few days eariler. The gross score is 169.
