This is a farm I was hunting and the bucks were in their Bachelor groups enjoying the beans and Trophy Rock. I was chasing the one on the left but never caught up to him.

When I first received the e-mailed images I thought they were whitetail fawns with something either wrong with or had some leaves on their ears. I then saw one of them walk through the yard and knew something was up as they absolutely weren't whitetails. I got the pics off of the camera flash drive, and sent them to the state deer biologist who confirmed that they are young, but not fawn, fallow deer escaped from a nearby farm. I was advised that fallow deer keep their spots, and explains why I didn't see them with a doe. The picture was good enough to get the tag number and notify the owner who collected them and returned them to their pen.

Doe with feeding fawns. On closer observation, there’s a coyote or wolf close by sizing up a meal. Next image was a blur and then nothing. Searched for a carcass when I was back at the cabin a week later. Never found anything so I assume the youngsters survived. This is in Vilas County, WI.
