There's a something about this tree that lures deer to jump up on their hind legs. You'd think the leaves would have disappeared by now. It's February in Michigan.

Well I am new to the Cuddeback family and spent the time configuring my new cameras and testing prior to deployment in the field. Just two days after getting my cameras setup in the field this whitetail deer decided to check out the new cameras to see who the new neighbor was. The little one was just curious came by to say hello, get a close up, and leave to continue its day. This deer just wanted to let me know I got everything setup correctly and it was working as I wanted. Got to say I am pretty pleased with results after those two days.

I set up this camera close to my cabin to see what bucks made it after this past season. These were the first pictures on the camera. Everyone gets pictures of deer up close but this doe looks like her eyes are about to POP out of her head! And then she keeps getting closer! I thought it was pretty funny and unique.

I had seen this buck numerous times during archery season. I have a tree stand at the end of this road that runs through a clearcut and he would walk almost under the tree stand. I hadn't seen him during gun season so I set up the Cuddeback camera to see if he made it through the season. Wow, was I surprised to see him like this in a Winter Wonderland. I'm amazed at how the snow stayed on his antlers. I now have 12 Cuddeback cameras out hoping to top this picture some day.

My neighbor was telling me about these two bucks hanging out in his yard almost every other morning around dawn. I went to set up my camera in a known spot where the deer are traveling through the pines past the farm and into the open woods. I did get a photo of one buck, but not as big as my neighbor was describing, a coyote and a fox. I thought the photo of the fox was nicer than the rest, since most photos in the contest are usually of deer, coyote, eagles and bears.

This is a buck the locals call stickers and they all where after him but I was the lucky one to get him. I have him scored at 171.6/8 “ and he is only 13” spread

This photo captured my target buck for this year from a unique angle. This was a day where we had 20+ mph winds so I opted not to go out and sit in my stand. Of course he steps out following the doe in the background at 2:30 in the afternoon 10 yards from the stand I would have been sitting in. Good learning lesson that no matter what the conditions are you need to be out there to give yourself the most opportunities. You just never know when they will step out. Unfortunately I never had an opportunity to fill my tag on him.
