A nice buck and a doe getting to know each other a little better in North East Iowa. The contrast in body size is astonishing in this picture. Really puts into perspective how much larger the mature buck is.

There is a big scrape at this location every year and always gives me some nice pics. These two have been seen running together for the past 2 months on the property.

I was able to walk up to both of these bucks in total darkness and get into my tree stand and I was only 20 yards away. The racket and noise these two bucks made was so loud, my heart was pounding and eventually more than 6 different bucks were sparring right in front of me. At first light they all melted in the swamp and were gone...but it was an awesome time in the woods.

In the extreme drought, these turkeys and deer came to water at our shallow water turkey pond . It has regular fresh water. The picture is not altered in anyway.
