I am a graduate student at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale conducting my Masters research on wild turkey response to grassland fire management. I attempt to capture turkeys using rocket netting techniques in the winter months. Any hens captured receive a backpack radiotransmitter so they can be tracked to obtain nesting and brood use data during the breeding season. I use Cuddeback cameras to monitor bait sites throughout my study area. When I get pictures of turkeys using a bait site, I set up a net and attempt to trap them the next morning. This morning everything worked out perfectly, including the timing of this photo. The camera took a photo of the rocket net going off over the birds. You can see the net extending over them (shooting straight out from camera into the field) as they try to escape, to no avail. This morning the net captured 14 hens in this one shot of the net. Awesome! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did! Ryan

Half-A-Rack. Seen this smaller buck this year in the season. Set the camera to try to catch some pictures of coyotes and suprisingly he is still around! Can't wait to see what this fall brings.

We put this cuddeback on our field to capture the monster 10 point on our land, but we instead captured one of the coolest photos I've ever witnessed! It is a picture of a flock of turkeys getting flushed by a coyote! The coolest thing about this whole picture is that it's in the daytime, and a few days later we most likely trapped this same coyote near this field.

Seems to be more and more hunting pressure in the area I hunt and haven't seen the deer like I used to and thanks to Cuddeback I know there's still one giant lurking in the woods.

A nice Iowa 9-pointer working his way through the willows on his way to the bean fields at dusk in late August.

looks like the coyote was looking for a meal but not successful too many birds and not sure which one to go after. Well better luck next time.
