Earlier this Fall I found an occupied bear den in Colorado. I placed a couple cameras near the entrance to see if the bear would periodically come out. To my surprise, they come out to stretch and eat snow for liquid almost on a daily basis and it's almost Christmas. I guess they really don't go into a deep sleep.
